All of the hatch year birds would show fresh feathers in August.  The gorget is lightly patterned.

P10 is wide, curved, and with a very rounded end.

The shape of the primary ends and how the rachis splits the feather combine to be unique to this species.

  1. Working on a painting of a black-chinned female and was a bit confused about the tail feather colors as seen from behind as well as the apparent transparency of the flight feathers. Your pics were very very helpful.
